The Easy Way
Sometimes, as an artist without a dedicated booking agent, I get really exhausted with routing tours. That is, figuring out where to go when and how. Those of you who do it, you know what I’m talking about. I’ll be matching up a spreadsheet of 800 contacts against a map of the US, and my left eye starts twitching. This is when I realize I probably need to get up and do something entirely unrelated. For me, that means it’s a good idea to go to the thrift store and buy a “Happy 35th Anniversary! From Bank of America” mug to hold my next serving of coffee (bourbon).
Anyhow, beleaguered and searching for my mug… I stumbled upon something I could not have even imagined. This book. This. Book. In all of its 1995 splendor. Are half of the beautifully American sights/sites listed on each loop still there? How many of these places have changed, and in what way? Can I find a venue near each stop? And OH MY GOODNESS I don’t have to plan a route. It’s ALREADY DONE FOR ME. Plus, safety tips for the road, like… “Choosing the Right Cooler” and “Keep a Close Eye on Children” (that one has a penciled-in check mark by it, you guys). See the USA the easy way, indeed. I’m in love.
In my dreams, I plan to do each route and report back accordingly. In real life? Let’s see.
